Every once in a while I like to send myself back in time, when all books were made of paper and computers were basically big calculators. It helps put into perspective that I now have 89 books in my 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" x 1/4" iPod Touch. That many "real" books would fill four to five shelves of my bookcase. How is it possible to fit all of those books into such a tiny space?! And that's in addition to my music and calendar and notepad and important apps, like Doodle Jump and Angry Birds. Whatever your opinion of e-books, it's an amazing feat of technology.
I guess this is my late memorial to Steve Jobs. Thanks, dude.

Seriously, right? It's crazy how much information we hold in our hands!
I'm sure he would have appreciated it. ;D I love Apple.
Totally amazing what technology does for us. Our ancestors would have burned us for witches! Happy Halloween!
Yes, it's amazing how things get tinier and tinier. How we hold in our hands today more power than was in the one room-filling mainframe computer on my college campus.
I don't have any e-books yet, but I'm constantly amazed at all the music on my little ipod shuffle.
Word. :D :D
It is amazing. And I'm actually going to be getting a Kindle. It's been ordered, just waiting for delivery!
I can't get the hang of Angry Birds at all. I suspect my four-year old nephew is better at it than I am. Technological devices have become an entire universe in themselves. I don't know if I find that exciting or frightening - both, probably.
I have 175 books stored on my kindle; I don't even begin to have (real) shelf space for even two additional books. Living in a tiny cottage, for me, the technology rocks.
Angry birds has driven me over the edge. I cannot kill those pigs! Maybe I need an Angry Bird 1A course.
Haven't seen Doodle Jump yet. Maybe I'm just asking for trouble if I try to download that.
I love technology. It just keeps outstripping my mental ability. Now I"m off to practice hurling more stones with that sling shot. Damned those pigs, anyway.
Love, love, love our iPods. We have three and use them all the time. Great little things, they are.
JA--I agree, it's crazy!
Lisa--Ditto the apple love.
Lady Gwen--That's true! We'd be considered witches for sure. What a scary thought.
Marcia--Yes! The IBM 360, wasn't it? And the room had to be temperature controlled.
InLuv--Digital music is a whole other amazing bit of technology.
Christina--Word.
Bish--Enjoy your Kindle!!
Thea--I've heard it said that fear is excitement masked. :)
Gail--175 books! That's amazing!!
Lee--It's all in the wrist. No, not really. I just know I'm incredibly addicted.
Whisk--They are fabo. Don't know how I lived without them.
So you read on your IPod Touch? I've downloaded a few onto mine, but haven't used it yet.
And BTW - my husband just downloaded NeoOffice and he says it's better than Open Office. Fewer crashes.
That is crazy when you think about it!
My kids bookshelves are overflowing with books and we donate so many already read books (but only the picture books, because I feel the books can be passed down to each child) and my nightstand is chock full of books.
I have a feeling I'm going to need an ereader just to store my books!
Very true! It's amazing what we can do these days! Good tribute!
Judy--The iTouch is small, but you can adjust the font so it's the same size as a print book. I love that it's backlit (very easy to read in any light conditions) and I can hold it in one hand and flip to the next page with my thumb. You might want to give it a try. Thanks for the tip about NeoOffice!
Kelly--I must say, my house is a lot neater without so many books, but if I had kids I wouldn't trade any of their picture books for e-books. Totally different situation!
Abby--It is amazing, isn't it?
So true! I keep being worried I am going to run out of room on my Kindle, and my husband keeps reassuring me I'm not even close. So much easier than making room on physical shelves! I still love paper books, though.
I love a room lined with books...
I second your "Thanks, Dude." I love my Mac, iPod, iPad.
